| Detailed
description of the project |
The
project was composed of four components, each of
which was aimed at the final objective of giving
to the Mozambique Government good quality statistics
for the implementation of the national 2001-2005
Action Plan for Absolute Poverty Reduction (PARPA).
Labour Statistics. This component
developed good quality labour statistics through
the exploitation of administrative records and designing
a methodology that can be followed by any institution
in the process of producing good quality statistical
data. The objective of this component was to obtain
the status of delegate body responsible for labour
statistics for the Ministry of Labour and design
a methodology for the production of good quality
statistical data.
Provincial Offices. This component
strengthened the capacity of the provincial offices
of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) to
produce and disseminate good quality statistics
as well as to play a relevant role on the ground.
The objective was to create strong provincial offices
with the ability to work in the field and increase
the production and dissemination of good quality
information at the provincial level.
Informal Economy Statistics. This
component conducted a study on the informal sector
in Mozambique and design a methodology applicable
for the analysis of the phenomenon in the country,
with special regard to its contribution to the national
accounts. The study included a survey at national
level. The main objective of this component was
to define the informal sector at country level and
design a methodology to measure its weight in the
national accounts system.
Non-profit Sector Statistics. This
component defined the non-profit sector and set
up a register at national level, including international
and national organisations, and conducted a survey
at country level. The main objective was to measure,
with respect to the national accounts system, the
contribution of the non-profit sector to the household
economy. |
