This report was prepared in co-operation with Eurostat (Unit C2) within the framework of the MED TRANS project. In the early stages of the project, this publication was meant to a first step towards a better understanding of the transport phenomenon and its impact on the economy of the Euro-Mediterranean region. It contains a brief overview of transport in each country and basic statistics on the transportation of passengers and goods by air, sea, rail and road transport and data on road accidents from 1994 to 1996/1997
